Day one with our 10day home in the background. We took a 19 hour trip to reach this town of 2,000 people. The only way they can get to a hospital is by boat.

Here is a better view of my floating house of 26 americans and about 20 Brazilians. We had all our meals on the boat and fresh laundry done daily. Not really roughing it.

This our community fall festival. Noah has batman on his face. He cried when we washed it off later that night.

Rankin Ranch

Well there are so many great pictures that I can't post them all. But here is my friend Sarah Wilder and her family. Sarah has been one of my best friends since we were 10ish. We can't really remember. Me and my family started going to the Rankin Ranch as guests since I was Noah's age (2years).
Noah was in heaven. No fear with any of the animals. He kept asking what is next mama? In a little over 24hours we: swam, ate, bottle feed a calf, feed and held chickens, rode a horse, played with "new friends", went on a tractor, hay ride, hike, brushed a pony, made cookies, played in sprinklers, and much more. Noah never slowed down!

Jacob had a blast too! He just wanted to keep up with brother.

Trip to Uncle Dan's Fire Station and the Libary

Here are the boys at the Frisco Library making some noise! Jacob is into mimicking any sound Noah makes, luckily it is quieter than Noah's volume.

Outside the Library Noah was so happy to see a train. He asked to climb it I said he could but he had to do it on his own. I think I will have to reword that rule, in that Jacob (though he can't yet walk) can easily climb up onto the kids table in 30 seconds.

Tyler's Uncle is a Fire Fighter in Plano, TX. He graciously let us come and tour the fire station. Noah even got to put on is gear. Noah and Jacob had a blast!

Survival

I use to look at those moms in the grocery store that had the children screaming limp in the basket making quite a disturbance, and think boy that mom is doing a bad job. Well I now have that kid. Though he is full of tenderness and love, he can throw temper tantrums like I couldn't have ever imagine. Embarrassing? Yes!! Humbling? oh Yea! I though being an ER nurse doing CPR on a 300lb man was hard!! Not anymore, it's a lot harder to be a mom 24/7 of a strong willed child. We pray each moment that we don't lose our temper and pray that God will make them not into juveniles some day.

I coordinated this group of mothers of preschoolers at our church and there has been many times in my two short years of being a parent, that I have considered quiting because of my own struggles in parenting. You name all the things parents have done wrong, I've probably done it at least twice. I've learned not to make absolute rules for myself in parenting so I don't fully disappoint myself when I break it 2 minutes after I made it. I will trust that God's intervention and grace will fill in for all my mistakes, that Noah and Jacob will grow to love the Lord. Well there is my venting... Pray that we all survive the early years...

Alyson gave birth to a healthy baby boy on July 9th at 2:39pm. He weighs 7lbs 12oz, 19 3/4 inches long. It was a fast delivery. And the family is doing well. Noah is so excited that the baby is here. sometimes very jealous at the same time. We just pray that we can have wisdom in helping Noah through his transition as well.

In Long Beach

Noah and I ventured down to Long Beach while Tyler is away. Update from Tyler, he is doing really well and enjoying his time there. He is busy seeing patients and exploring the area. He is going on a Amazon River trip on Saturday and a bike tour of the waterfalls. Each patient hears the gospel after they receive medical care. Patients are so grateful to get some care. So Tyler is in the air right now. He left early this morning from San Francisco Airport, with a lay over in Atlanta and then to Quito, Ecuador. I am excited for him and will, wait already miss him a ton. The good thing about kids is you can't mope around for more than a second till a book is thrust in your face. Noah woke up at about 5am and would not go back to sleep. So I brought him in for cuddle time and instantly he goes daddy?? And went looking around the house for him. Well I am 35 weeks pregnant and my biggest prayer is that Tyler is safe and that I don't have a baby early. If Tyler sends pictures I will post them on the blog.

Trip to Long Beach

Noah and I hit the road to Southern California. And we hit it just right. The weather was in the 70's and 80's the whole time. We stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Ficht, while visiting with Cousin Hayden. We went to the park and the Beach. The ground at the parks was bouncy so Noah could practise his walking with easy. Highlights for Noah included throwing as much sand as possible in his hair, climbing stairs, waving at grandpa, shoulder rides, and strawberries.

One of the best parts for pregnant mama was that I got to sleep past 6 am every morning, changed minimal poops, daily walks by the beach, friends, and family.

He look five first steps on Christmas night and I missed it because I was too busy vomiting from our next child who is due 7/16/09. We just spent a week in Mammoth with my family. The weather was great and the golf was free and right outside our door.
Tyler and I are a little tired and stressed from the lack of sleep...but each night got better. This all of us except my brother at Mammoth Mountain.

Being in this leadership role I have already found new strengths and have become aware of I mean more aware of my weaknesses. We are having lunch before noah's swim lessons. Yes swim lessons...he may not be doing the breast stroke anytime soon but he does jump in the pool from sitting. I've learned to always be ready because you never know when he is going to jump in.
Noah was the youngest in the class by a month. I took the class with a friend from church who has a son one month exactly older than noah.

10 months already

I have learned to pull myself to standing and I am so proud of myself. My parents have decided to moving everything out of my reach since I can stand. I am cruising around tables and furniture, though I have not yet mastered crawling.

I still love to snuggle...at least for a second or maybe two.

And I love to clap. Say "yea Noah" and I will clap all by myself.

I can't believe that he is already 7 1/2 months old. People said that it would fly by...well it is true now...

Noah loves is jumper. He is starting to scoot. He'll move across the living room rug for a paci. He also is developing a sense of humor while boosting mom and dad's ego. We have become the funnest people on earth. Noah is also very ticklish.
After the colicky season he has proven to be quite happy, just make sure he gets 3 naps. He still goes to bed at 5:30 and wakes at 6:30. I wish I could say he always sleeps straight through, but he wakes, cries, finds his paci and puts himself back to sleep.

7 Months

Noah slept 12 hours in a row last night. No midnight feeding!! Many people said that I would wake up panicked, rather I woke up so very rested after a 9 hours of sleep. This is the happy boy this morning. You can't really see it but Noah's hair is spiked, thanks to daddy. For the first time we can understand why people have more than one child.

Here's Noah's first swim in the pool. He figured out if he can lay back he can go to sleep... back to the womb he thinks. Our gym has a pool and it has been such a blessing to me because I can leave Noah for up to 2 hours every day. It is a creative way to get a consistent break when there is no family in town. Also it is helping me get Hawaii ready for our big trip in May. Also there are 4 other families from the church at the pool so we get some friendship time as well.

If you look closely you can see Noah's 2 teeth. First the left came in. You got to watch your fingers he wants to bite everything. He is such a big boy now. He is 20 lbs and wearing 12 month clothing, we also bought him a big boy car seat since he is 2 lbs away from out growing it.

6 months

6 Month activities include:

Noah loves his bath he giggles and laughs. While splashing almost all the water out. This is my favorite part of the day soon to see how much joy he gets out to bath time.

I played with Hayden and he showed me how to take apart Grandma's yarn.

I tried to learn how to stand from Hayden. Boy does he have a fun life I can't wait to run.

San Francisco and Sleep

Noah likes his pacis so much that he holds on to as many as he can.

We went to San Francisco last weekend. Overall a great weekend...lots of work and increased stress with Noah, but worth the trip. We stayed at our friends Elise and Josh's apartment in the city while they were in NY. I'm sure the neighbors were glad we are gone. We went to golden gate park, Ocean beach, North Beach, walked across the Golden Bridge, ate at House of Nan King, saw friends, and shopped.

Great News Noah is sleeping better. On average he wakes up 2 times a night. Miracle yes. Tyler and I are looking a little bit more rested.

February updates

Boy is Noah growing. Each day there seems to be something new he does. He rolls back to front and front to back. I walk away for a minute now and come back to the living room and he is under the coffee table. I guess its time to baby proof the house and steam clean the floors.

He loves eating...diet includes rice cereal, carrots, squash, peaches, pears, and his favorite prunes. He also will have nothing to do with formula.

One thing that we thought was changing was his sleep habits....but no he fooled us for 5 days and is now back to waking 10-12 times a night. We believe he must sleep better at least by his teens.

Grandma and Grandpa Ficht came for a visit and also enjoyed playing the Wii. Noah can easily become a zombie to the TV. Which we have him avoid watching. We also went to Albuquerque and Noah had his first flight, which he did really well. Sorry no great pictures I was so tired I only took a few that were posted last time (they are so blurry...showing my exhaustion).

Last but not least we got a ton of snow leaving the Maxson ladies with a power outage. They joined us for dinner and hot chocolate. Noah loved the entertainment. There mom also rescued me with a much needed nap earlier this month.

God Must Have Known What He Was Doing...

God makes babies so cute. Right about when parents feel like there must have been a huge mistake that someone must have switched their baby with the lady in labor next door back in September- he smiles, laughs, lighting up when you enter the room. Despite efforts of three different books and endless effort; Noah manages to sleep less now than he did a month ago. We thought about writing a book about 'Sleepless in Sonora.' It kind of has a jingle to it. It stars a mom with dark circles under her eyes, with her first gray hairs. Co-starring a dad that believes that the baby is causing him to go bald (it actually started the first year of marriage- thats a whole other story), and he gets just enough sleep to do surgery and diagnosis patients. Don't worry the story is a dramatic comedy not a horror.

Moms like to tell other moms how their baby slept threw the night months ago...and you must be doing something wrong. That's when the story goes to the mom's thoughts and she mentally dives across the MOPS table and strangles her. (Note all characters are fictional) Thankfully there is that one mom that has been there and has wonderful children now and brings you dinner even though its been months since the baby was born.

The next chapter is a huge wave of nausea hits and then the vomiting follows. All you can think is I hope that you aren't pregnant and hopefully you are just sick. Only a sleep deprived mom can think this way. But just to be safe you find one unused pregnancy test from the Costco pack, the one that you used every month hoping and praying that you would be pregnant. Yes you are thinking is this how the story began? Well no we aren't pregnant... Must have been something I ate.

And I got to go Noah just woke from his 5th twenty eight minute nap.

Hiking

This last weekend we hiked by Hetch Hechy to some beautiful waterfalls. It proved to be quite an adventure with rock falls, bear prints, crawling under trees, and walking through snow all with a 3 and half month old. He probably had the best time out to all of us, for they say ignorance is bliss.

Christmas Activities

Noah's first Christmas. His hat kept slipping over his eyes, but he didn't care he just kept sleeping.

Kind of a blurry picture but that is Noah in the Sierra Bible church Christmas Play. Micheal Ludlem was singing Joseph's Lullaby by Mercy Me. It is quite a beautiful song. Noah was in a total of 5 performances and did quite amazingly despite all the activity. He didn't cry once and slept great each night after the performances. We are discovering that he really likes lots of excitement.

Noah is growing up so fast. He is trying to pull himself up to a sitting position. Tyler has been working so much the past few days, we are praying that he will have tomorrow off. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

READY FOR CHRISTMAS!

Noah is smiling a ton and has become a delight. He slept 8 hours straight last night straight. Both Tyler and I checked on him. I am surprised that we didn't wake him accidentally.

Noah is also baby Jesus in the church musical. His first performance was last night and so far no crying on stage.

Thanksgiving Week

Noah had a busy week. He met his aunt Amber and uncle Jason, not to forget his cousing Hayden. They came up the weekend before Thanksgiving from Southern California. We enjoyed walking around downtown. Going to the park, to dinner, and just hanging out. My parents also were up durring this time.
Hayden is checking out his cousin. Hayden is 10 months and starting to walk. I know now that my house isn't very baby proof.

Jason is enjoying a reminder of the quieter days (or so he thought) of having a baby not quite so busy.

Tyler's family came the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Tyler's sister Katie and her daughter came to meet Noah for the first time.

Madison loves being a cousin.

Noah's first Thanksgiving, he also turned 2 months on the 22nd.

Noah went to his two month appointment today weighing in at 12lbs 8 oz and 23 1/4 inches long. The doctor keeps giving us suggestions on how to get him to sleep more, but I think Noah just goes to his own beat of his own drum. At 12lbs they are suppose to sleep 6 to 8 hours straight each night...someone should tell Noah that. Regardless we are growing more and more in love with him each day. He smiles a ton, holds his head up, and enjoys the outdoors.

Jackson still doesn't know what to think of Noah. He does love stealing kisses though.

On Saturday night he let us all sleep for 7 hours straight. Now if it can just happen every night.

Noah is sporting his Halloween onesie. We had over a hundred tricker treaters. We ended up giving all the candy away (including preggy pops) and turned the lights out. It worked out good so Noah could go to sleep.
Six weeks exactly with a proud papa. Tyler and I were able to go on a date today. We went out to lunch and test drove cars. It was nice to have a little break.

Noah gave is first laugh this weekend and he is smiling more and more. He seems to be going through a growth spurt, because he wants to eat all the time.

Noah loves his baths but hates getting out of them.

Our hospital family through Noah a shower last Sunday. We are so blessed to have people to love on Noah. It was at Anne's house however everyone chipped in. Noah was well behaved except for peeing on Barbara.

Grandpa and Grandma Ficht are back for a visit. They have been gracious to give mommy a few much needed naps.

Noah is rolling over now from his belly to his front. He keeping us more and more on our toes.

Look at me!! I am almost sitting up. Except for my head. Could someone please tell my mom and dad I am not quite ready for this.
Noah is growing each day and looks more and more like his daddy. These pictures were taken last night.

Don't his feet look huge. We think he is going to be tall.

We still try to get sleep when ever we can. Notice who is sleeping and who is wide awake. It seems that Noah thinks the world works on a 48 hour day, every other day he sleeps 4 hour stretches at night. I just need to learn to get on his schedule.

Through our early weeks with Noah both Tyler and I appreciate our parents so much more.

One Month Today

Noah is one month today. This weekend he slept in his crib all night for the first time. Tyler and I slept the best since the night before he was born. Though all his little noises are so cute, they were keeping us up. He woke at 1am and 4am the first night, every other hour the second, and then back to 1 am and 4 am.

He comes into our room for snuggle time in the morning.

He is much more alert and tracking things with his eyes. He sleeps when you don't wanted him to and he is awake when you don't want him to be. Well he is on a schedule of his own we just try to make schedule suggestions I guess.

3 weeks already

We can't believe that Noah turned 3 weeks last Saturday. On Friday he weighed in at exactly 8lbs. He is starting to smile when he is eating. He sleeps for four hours in the first stretch of the night (so I get some sleep). Tyler still sleeps on the couch on weeknights so he can function for work.

Noah took his first journey to Modesto this weekend, which was quite an adventure; feeding in the car, public restroom diaper changes, rain. We also went hiking and to the foothill pregnancy center banquet. Tyler and I decided that we did a little to much and Noah surely let us know with his loud crying.

It's amazing that Noah was in my belly. This picture was taken 3 days before we gave birth. I have never felt better to not be pregnant. Some people say that they felt the best they ever felt being pregnant, they must not have remembered the aches and pains, and fortunate enough to not have nausea. We feel so blessed to have Noah, despite sleepless nights.
Last weekend the Rankin's and the Sharmen's were up in Jamestown. Noah joined us all for lunch at Diamondback. He enjoyed being loved on by Glenda and Diane, even though he slept through the whole thing. He still mostly sleeps, poops, cry's, and occasionally stares at our faces. Nights are getting better, he sleeps for one four hour stretch in the beginning of the night.

As of Monday he weighs 7lb 9oz and 21 1/2 inches. We are going for a weight check today. Hopefully he has gained some weight.

Our first week with Noah

Noah has definitely changed our world, but with a face like this it makes long nights much easier. His jaundice is almost gone and he sleeps anywhere from 2 to 4 hours at a time. I am trying to figure out a way for Tyler to do some of the night feedings.

Tyler's family came for the weekend to meet their second grandchild. We had a great time with them and appreciate their encouragement and help along with my parents that have been here since early September awaiting Noah's arival.

Noah is one week old today 9/29. Noah and I celebrated right at 4:12 am with a feeding.

He loves his hands in his face. We found that they wake him in the night so we snuggle them into his blanket and tight as we can.

Grandpa Ficht holding his second grandson this year. Randy has proven to be a master gardener and sprucing up our yard. Tyler and Randy planted a 15 gallon tree in our backyard on September 15th as a happy 1 year in our house and celebration of the new life coming to our family.

Hey everyone, Well for those who dont know, Aly had Noah on september 22 at
4:12 AM. He weighed 7 lbs 15.5oz, and was 21 inches long. We're pretty tired
but very happy. It was not the kind of birth that we thought was going to
happen. She wen't into hard labor at 1AM, at 2:30 her water broke. We got to
the hospital at 3 and she was ready to start pushing at 3:30. The nurse
actually had to hold the baby in a bit because the doctor wasn't at the hospital
yet. Aly didn't get any spinal or other pain medication, so was very much in
pain, but did a great job!!!! There are a couple of pictures, enjoy!!!
